About HCCRA

Created in 2017 with the merger of EIHRA (established in 1987 to serve eastern Iowans interested in conservation and hunting using trained retrievers) and Hoosier Bay Delta Waterfowl (established in 2012 to improve habitat within the Hoosier Creek watershed), Hoosier Creek Conservation and Retriever Association (HCCRA) is actively involved in:

  • Helping and teaching the next generation of young hunters

  • Managing more than 75 wood duck houses to boost wood duck populations

  • Fundraising to implement conservation projects in eastern Iowa

  • Promoting conservation and duck hunting

  • Protecting and monitoring local watershed areas to protect against misuse

HCCRA was formed to increase the ability to invest in local projects and improve multiple-use local habitat areas. To carry out these initiatives, we host events and lead projects such as:

  • Regular dog training days

  • Biannual dog hunt tests

  • An annual dinner, auction, and banquet

  • Annual youth hunting events

"Without hunting, there would be no conservation. Without conservation, there would be no wildlife."
